Sushi Tap

A combination of good sushi and even better beer. This place was introduced to us by a friend when talking about flights of craft beer. It’s relatively new and offers a wide combination of exotic sushi and some of the region’s best beer.

When first receiving the menus, we were a little lost as to what all the mysterious words were, but luckily our waiter was very helpful and very knowledgeable on the whole thing. There’s nothing better than when a waiter who can actually recommend something to you and know what every single thing is in every single roll. After finally narrowing down our options to two rolls, he let us know that the plates take around 15-20 minutes to make and recommended we get an appetizer for the wait. We ended up getting the vegetable tempura but these weren’t like your typical huge pieces of vegetable. Instead, the were cut into small strips which made it way easier to consume.

Now, for my favorite part: the Beer! Sushi Tap has over 20 craft beers to pick from and the best thing is that you can get a flight of 4 and try a wide variety of them. They have something for everyone whether you like Cream Ale, IPA’s, Mexican Ale, or the classic National ones like Heineken, Modelo, and Indio. Our waiter came to our rescue again and recommended we get 2 light beers and 2 dark beers in order to try a wider range of flavors. He also highly recommended one called Dragula from Cervecería Insurgente. This beer is an Oatmeal Stout with 6.8% ABV and is by far one of my favorite craft beers so far so I would highly recommend it.

Our experience at Sushi Tap was definitely a good one and would highly recommend it to anyone with a craft beer or exotic sushi addiction. It’s a great addition to the “la cacho” area of Tijuana and especially to culinary buzz going around.
